Voluntourist trip in December

Voluntourist trip in December

Once again we invited possible future sponsors and volunteers to join us on a trip through Ethiopia and to visit our entrepreneurship centres and community projects. The trip lastet from December 4th to 11th. First we travelled from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar where Paul Martinez, Stephen Whaley, Enzo Tesei and Joel Makonnen spend a lot of time with our students from the senior and the junior class. They learned about the business ideas and the dreams of our young entrepreneurs, saw the harsh reality when they were invited to a coffee ceremony in the family mud hut of one of our students and even coached a few senior students that were not too sure about their business ideas. They also met Elders from the Weyto Tribe and came up with new solutions for their future housing. After a little tourism in Gondar and Lalibela the journey finished in Alchemy World's office in Addis Ababa.

The results we hope to achieve through this trip are the following:

1) Paul will deal with the creation of a trust fund in the UK that could function as Alchemy World's own microfinance bank. He will also look into a solution for the Weyto housing.
2) Stephen is working on a new and improved curriculum for our future classes and plans to work as a volunteer for Alchemy World a few months every year
3) Enzo is setting up a company in Bahir Dar and promised that 25 percents of his profits will go directly to Alchemy World
4) Joel is busy in setting up Alchemy World in the US and is volunteering in our Addis Ababa office

To be continued...
